| So, it's been forever since I last wrote. Didn't have a whole lot to write about before, even though being pregnant was kind of a big deal. But, since something quite exciting happened a couple of weeks ago, I thought I'd xanga about it. Partly so I can share with those of you who want to know more, and partly so I can get this down before I forget.
Baby wasn't supposed to come until early April. However, when I went in for a routine check up a couple weeks ago, my doctor told me that my blood pressure was really high - high enough to possibly induce me into labor that very day! Of course that totally freaked me and Dan out, as we were expecting to go home and have a few more weeks to prepare for baby. Instead, I found myself in the hospital, having some tests done on me and getting admitted to stay overnight for observations. We didn't have a single thing packed, and I just kept on thinking about all the things we hadn't done yet (like install a car seat) and how we weren't ready for this little one to be coming yet. All we could do was sit there and pray, and wait for what the doctor's decision.
At first the on-call doctor said she was leaning toward inducing me that night. Then they decided to wait and run some more tests. The next morning my doctor told me she'd probably end up sending me home on bed rest. Then, after having a sonogram done, a specialist doctor came in in the afternoon and told me he was going to recommend that I be induced because my condition (something called preeclampsia) was not going to get any better, and the baby was actually a good size and weight already. At this time, I was able to accept the idea that this baby was coming sooner than planned. I actually preferred to be induced, rather than go home and wait and worry all the time about my blood pressure and health.
So, that night, they started the whole process - sticking an IV in me to load me up with whatever drugs I needed. I didn't sleep well at all that night because my contractions, though they weren't really strong, were coming every 10-20 seconds. Poor Dan had to help me wheel my IV stuff to the bathroom every time I had to go at night. The next morning, my doctor came in and broke my water, which made the contractions even worse! They were coming in strong, and still at every 10-20 seconds! So, I opted to go for the epidural. At first, I wanted to try to go without it, but I knew I couldn't take it, as my doctor said I probably wouldn't be ready for delivery until late afternoon. In addition, she told me it would actually help lower my blood pressure. Oh boy, am I glad I did it! Even though I couldn't actually feel the contractions, my body was shaking. Imagine if I could actually feel them! Plus, I was able to take a nap, which I really needed.
So, around 5 in the evening, the pushing began. It kept going and going, for the next 2 and half hours because baby's head wouldn't come out. Finally, I told the doctor just to use the vacuum to suction baby out, and voila! Out she came, with her eyes wide open and crying. Thank you, God!
I wanted to add that Dan was great during the whole process. He was extremely supportive and I couldn't have done it without him. I couldn't have asked for a better person to be there with me !
So, here is our Sasha. Welcome to our family, little one!

| As Dan was driving home from work today (yep, he worked on a Saturday), he told me that he had some bad news. Some messed up person broke off the sideview mirror from my car some time last night! At first he thought someone had just knocked it off, but he couldn't find it anywhere, so the person actually stole it! Poor car. It's been banged up enough already. Some people can be so cruel .
After we got home from lunch, I got a letter from SFSU telling me that I passed my master's exam, so that cheered me up! It feels good, after all those years of taking classes and all that studying. I was a little worried I might not pass because I ran out of time at the end of the test and had to really rush my last essay, so I didn't think I did a good job on it. Thanks God, for helping me get through it and retain the information that I needed to! I can officially place the letters M.A. after my name sometime in late May. Pretty cool !

| Haven't bolgged for a really long time because school and work have been taking up all of my time. But, as of yesterday, around 9:15 p.m., I am officially done with all my classes! When I went back to school in the fall of 2003, I thought I'd be in school for 2 years max. Now, 3 and a half years later, I have finally finished. Well, not completely because I still have to take my master's comprehensive exam next semester and pass it, and finish up 1 more full year of teaching experience in order to get my level 2 credential, but at least I don't have any more classes to take!
I dunno how I got through it all. God really helped me, from finding students to do my projects on to getting me through stressful times of doing presentations and writing some uber long papers. He rocks!
And, there are only 3 more days of work before Christmas break! Yay!
